When you arrive at the North Alabama Railroad Museum, if the parking lot gates are closed look for the pedestrian gate (shown in photo on left). This gate is open every day during normal daylight hours and visitors are welcome to come in and tour the museum (the museum will occasionally be closed to the general public for private events, we apologize for any inconvenience this might cause). Just a reminder, we are an all-volunteer organization and we are not able to hire full-time tour guides. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings museum workers will be present to give tours and answer questions when possible. Some displays will only be open on days we are giving train rides, but on days when workers are not available (usually Sunday through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday) visitors will be able to take a self-guided walking tour (security cameras are on premises).  We are in the process of creating an interactive system that when completed will allow visitors to click on a QRC code with their cell phone for information on the exhibits.  Until then we ask our visitors to please look on the north side of the Chase Depot (see photo on right) for the green “Waybill” box. Inside you will find museum brochures as well as train ride schedules and exhibit information for your convenience.  We would be more than happy to have you ride our train for a real railroading experience.  Please visit our Buy Tickets page here for details, or you can order tickets over the phone by calling 256-851-6276.  If you are taking pictures, we have some safety procedures want you to follow (click here).  If you are a professional photographer, you will need to fill out a form and return it to us and we will keep it on file.  Please visit this page for complete instructions. Remember, safety first for all of our visitors !
